Spectrum Premium 2.0 Nuggets: Melting Guidelines

Melt at 2200ºF (1204ºC) in 25 pound charges. Wait until surface has leveled off, then charge again. Soak at 2100º to 2200º F (1144º to 1204ºC) for 2 or more hours. Ramp down as slow as your scheduling permits to your desired working temperature. Common working temperatures are 2075º to 2125ºF (1135 to 1163ºC).If you've been using original Premium Nuggets, start your furnace at your current temperature settings and adjust from there.

“Squeezing” the glass 50 to 100 degrees (F) below working temp may help facilitate a seed-free melt.

(Different furnace types and sizes will use different procedures. Many blowers charge and soak at lower temperatures; turnaround time will be longer using this approach.)

Note: We advise that you "wash" your furnace before charging it with Premium 2.0 Nuggets to avoid any cross contamination/compatibility issues -- even if you have previously used Nuggets products. The New 2.0 formula is not compatible with either the original Premium Nuggets, or System 96® Studio Nuggets.
